Maldon Festival visits Chelmsford Cathedral for first time

The Maldon Festival is always looking for the opportunity to grow.  Already this year we've been able to gain charitable status which will allow us to tap into funding sources in order to grow the Maldon Festival.  This year for the first time we are extremely excited to be bringing the Maldon Festival to Chelmsford this year.  Specifically to Chelmsford Cathedral.

Over the previous nine years of the Maldon Festival, we have tried to bring events to venues right across the district and not just the town of Maldon itself.  We've previously put on events in Bradwell and other venues on the Dengie Peninsular.  We've visited Mundon on several occasions.  We love visiting the  Church as the atmosphere there is magical.  We've also held a party on White House Farm, also in Mundon.  The hugely successful Party on the Farm with the excellent Soul Collective.

We're extremely excited to be working with the Chelmsford Singers this year.  Carl Orff's Carmina Burana is beloved so many and we're looking forward to being able to present it to you at Chelmsford Cathedral on 1st July 2017.  Not only will you be treated to Carmina Burana but you'll also have the chance to hear Borodin’s Polotsvian Dances from his opera, Prince Igor.

The performance by the Chelmsford Singers at Chelmsford Cathedral will be directed by James Davy, Chelmsford Cathedral's Director of Music.  Soloists include Elizabeth Roberts, the amazing soprano who has appeared many times in the Maldon Festival, including as the plaintiff in previous productions of Gilbert and Sullivan;s Trial by Jury and Colin Baldy, the Maldon Festival's Artistic Director.

Not only are we visiting Chelmsford Cathedral this year, but we're also bringing back the hugely successful 'The Art of the Choral Scholar' concert this year.  The Choral Scholars of Chelmsford Cathedral will be performing for your delight and entertainment.  We've done it twice so far and both times have been a sellout.  Don't miss your chance to see it this year.
