Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Chelmsford Singers

The Chelmsford Singers were founded in 1927 and this concert celebrates their ninetieth anniversary. Orff composed Carmina Burana in 1935 and 1936, based on 24 poems from the medieval collection of the same name. Off sets their, at times, risqué words with such vitality that the work has become one of the most popular choral works in existence.
Our Russian theme continues with the other work in the concert; Borodin’s Polotsvian Dances from his opera, Prince Igor. The concert is conducted by James Davy and features baritone soloist, Colin Baldy
